Paul On Trial Chapter 4

In this chapter I will quote some statements about, or made by Paul himself, and compare it to other parts of the Bible.

Matthew 12:36-37 “But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give an account thereof in the day of judgement. For by your words you shall be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.”

James 1:26 “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridles not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”

1 Peter 4:11 “If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; If any man minister, let him do it as the ability which God gives: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”

Acts 23:3 Then Paul said unto him, God shall smite you, you whited wall: for you sit to judge me after the law, and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?”

Acts 15:39-40 “And the contention was so strong between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus; and Paul chose Silas, and departed being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.”

Galatians 5:12 “I would that they were even cut off that trouble you.”

1 Corinthians 7:6 “But I speak this by permission, and not by commandment.”

1 Corinthians 7:12 “BUT TO THE REST SPEAK I, AND NOT THE LORD: If any brother has a wife that believes not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.”

1 Corinthians 7:25 “Now concerning virgins I HAVE NO COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD: YET I GIVE MY JUDGEMENT, as one that has obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful.”

2 Corinthians 11:16-19 “I say again, let no man think me a fool: if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little. THAT WHICH I SPEAK, I SPEAK IT NOT AFTER THE LORD, BUT AS IT WERE FOOLISHLY, IN THIS CONFIDENCE OF BOASTING. Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also, seeing you yourselves are wise.”

2 Corinthians 11:1 “Would to God you could bear with me a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me.”

2 Corinthians 11:10 As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of my boasting in the regions of Achaia.”

2 Corinthians 11:21 I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit wherein soever any is bold, (I speak foolishly) I am bold also.”

2 Corinthians 11:23 “Are they ministers of Christ? (I SPEAK AS A FOOL) I am more: in labors more abundant, in prisons more frequent, in death often.”

2 Corinthians 12:11 “I AM BECOME A FOOL IN GLORYING: you have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing.”

Matthew 5:22 “But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother, raca, shall be in danger of the council, BUT WHOSOEVER SHALL SAY, YOU FOOL, SHALL BE IN DANGER OF HELL FIRE.”

1 Corinthians 15:36 “YOU FOOL, that which you sow is not quickened, except it die.”

Galatians 3:1 “O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you?”

Galatians 3:3 “Are you so foolish? Having begun in the spirit, are you now made perfect by the flesh?”

Matthew 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these comes from evil.”

2 Corinthians 11:31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed forever more, knows that I lie not.”

1 Timothy 2:7 “Where unto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ and I lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.”

God’s Word is infallible, it is perfect. Paul’s epistles are considered to be the perfect, infallible Word of God. Yet in them Paul openly confesses that what he speaks is not God’s Word; he bad mouths people and brawls; he rejects Jesus’ warning to not say “You fool”, and is in danger of hell fire; He confesses that he speaks as a fool speaks; he boasts; he asks people to bear with him in his folly; and he uses oaths, which Jesus said comes from evil. How can any of this be God’s Word?
